Turning the wheel of time back by a few months, we see an excited team eagerly waiting to welcome our beloved Bappa once again. As we planned ahead for the festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi, despite our souls being filled with the anticipation of modaks, something felt amiss.
Celebrating Ganeshji has been a long ritual. And it’s taken its own form over the years with a few elements remaining an integral part of this celebration. His love for modaks is probably highlighted by a widely known but often forgotten story. A story about how Ganeshji agree to write one of the most integral and lengthy scriptures of Indian tradition – the Mahabharata in return for a few simple conditions, including his favourite sweet. And while we devour his favourite sweet dish every year; we decided it was time to also honour the other part of this story. While Goddess Saraswati is considered the goddess of education, we felt that Ganeshjis story inspired the ability to comprehend and scribe such a lengthy manuscript.
As of today, 57 million children across the world remain out of school.1 While education is a fundamental right, we do not need to elaborate the numerous benefits it has. It’s a right that has the potential to impact the life of not just 1 individual, but rather an entire family or even a whole community. And so, we began our journey towards doing something to honour this. We ran a drive within our organisation to collect and donate the simple necessities any child would require to receive a basic education. What happened next, is best seen and heard rather than written. We hope this video warms your heart as much as it did ours.
